You'd be forgiven for thinking this cultivar must be one of those with a slop name used to force the acceptance of double trademarked and patented promotional names but no this is an honest old-fashioned denotation of its Aussie origin point. This of course means it doesn't toot its own horn for its unique floral color, eschewing the usual red of G. juniperina for a seldom seen pale gold hue. New hardy Grevilleas are always exciting to have in the arsenal, especially when that hardiness comes without caveats or borderline warnings. This species is certainly reliable all the way down to 10F if not lower. Forming a needle leaved prostrate shrub unhospitable to fauna foraging.
A rare dwarf Geranium with sizeable pink flowers. Perfect for the rock garden or special nook. This stays very short - just inches high - making a dense little mass of attractive foliage above which is displayed the very nice pink flowers. Quite tough despite its size.
Here in Port Townsend Coastal Californians are like the bogey man haunting the dreams of NIMBY types and work-a-day home searchers alike. However in our rain-shadow deertopia, plants resistant to roaming teeth and the occasional drought are like affordable multi-unit housing. Thus we come to be selling this Cali native, and a prostrate large-flowered form to boot. The thick evergreen (in mild winters) foliage forms a tough mat producing odd buds that secrete a sticky gum that transform into a carpet of large yellow daisies in Summer, providing an adaptable full-sun groundcover.
We collected this on the lower slopes of Mt Japfu in Nagaland where it was creeping on the shady forest floor with white veined leaves. 4-merous small white flowers and fruit a reddish orange pea. Plantsman extraordinaire Jens Nielsen pointed us in the right direction on the ID after much anguished and fruitless hunting that led us to offer this previously (and infamously) as "no idea yet". Zone 9 vine.
