Quite an uncommon species with all cultivated material coming from the Chin Mts in west-central Myanmar, thanks to Frank Kingdon-Ward for that collection. A sturdy plant with a stout stem and bold leaves and small mauve orchid-like flowers nestled in the apex of the leafy stem.

This species of the uniformly winning genus hails from Southeast Asia and India. Glossy evergreen foliage slightly longer than many of its fellows paired with fragrant white flowers nestled nicely in the leaf axils across much of the stem make it a solid choice of medium size shrub for a relatively mild spot.

A collection by Hinkley from Myanmar at 9000' of this handsome species with nicely patterned leaves. Pink flowers. Hardiness is unknown but would guess a warm zone 8 with a good winter blanket of mulch in colder zone 8 at least until more is known.

A rare species from northern Myanmar and adjacent Yunnan, this is even a rarer opportunity to purchase bulbs from seed collected in the wild by Bjornar Olsen. Nomocharis in cultivation live in the Summer of Love and welcome without reservation any pollen from any other Nomocharis nearby resulting in hybridity. These are direct wildlings and flowers vary a bit which is not uncommon in a population.

Staggeringly good introduction by Jens Nilsen from the China-Myanmar border region. This incomparable Lipstick Vine species is comment-provoking even out of flower with abruptly pendulous branches holding thick, long leaves. The red tubular flowers are the cherry on the Aeschynanthus sundae. Young plants, best in airy well-drained soil for epiphytes.

Stunning introduction by the equally stunning Steve Hootman from the rich forests of the Myanmar border area. This epiphytic blueberry cousin has luscious pink, tubular, ribbed flowers accented by red squiggly chevrons with provocatively inviting, recurved yellow tips ringing the corolla mouth. Likely tolerates light brief frosts.

Yellow Himalayan Honeysuckle. A species from NE India and northern Myanmar originally introduced by Frank Kingdon-Ward just over 100 years ago, this is from a more recent US Natiional Arboretum collection. Yellow flowers over bronzed foliage distinguishes this from the more familiar Leycesteria formosa.

Annointed as the "Queen of the Umbels", this is what Queen Anne's Lace would look like after a top design team makeover. The refined supreme lacery of foliage and polished presentation of 8" white platters of flowers belies a certain innocent muscularity. The epitome of texture.

Dainty yet durable species collected by Sue on Mt Saramati which straddles the border of Myanmar and Nagaland. The only lily capsule found on the trip and it proved to be a distinct variant likely to merit subspecific status. Small white flowers. Sue is now a footnote in botanical history.

This is a remarkable species in the Theaceae or Camellia family, Native to Yunnan, Myanmar and Vietnam with this collection hailing from the latter. Evergreen trees rarely reaching 50' or more but doubt if you will have to contend with that eventuality! Large white flowers with yellow anthers occur in late winter and early spring. Suitable only for very mild gardens and worth trying on a wall.
