Hepatica

Midwestern native Hepatica whose name has been changed to Anemone acutiloba or some prefer Anemone nobilis var. acuta. We cling to Hepatica, kicking and screaming. These are from seed from the unparalleled collection at Ashwood Nurseries and are not wild collected plants. This has leaves with sharply pointed lobes and usually white but sometimes pinkish flowers sometimes  well-displayed on erect stems above the leaves. Good plant for the woodland garden where it plays well with the early Trilliums, Cardamines and various early spring ephemera.

This form features nice purple flowers with a second layer of overlapping petals, not quite as petal-packed as the true double japonicas but still quite frilly.

Originally from Lithuanian wild-collected seed this strain was selected for it's dark botanical-blue flowers rather than the usual pale color of the species. An uncommon gem that seems to originate from Seneca Hill nursery. We've found the transsilvanicas to be good growers and flower-ers so worth adding to the collection even amidst other blue-flowering species.

This form is for fans of bold saturated colors, with hot pink flowers only further juiced up by dark red anthers, this one pops even among the varied jewel-like hues of our Hepatica house.

This sooooo-cute form really has it all, a lovely blush pink multiplied by an unusually high number of petals just gets even more barbie-ified by bright pink anthers, and then it all gets wrapped in the bow of well-marked leaves, swoon-worthy in the extreme.

This form features larger than usual purple flowers with a pale to white center which bleeds into the petals for a tie-dye effect, pretty radical dude.

This form features petals washed in a pale lilac with purplish venation creating a watercolor effect and lending some intricacy to the normally simple flowers.
